BRITNEY'S TELEPHONE???

Did I pass on that song? What was I thinking?
Did I pass on that song? What was I thinking?

A few days ago, the internet was abuzz with a recording of Britney Spears singing Lady Gaga's Telephone. The demo was reportedly leaked online.

At first there was confusion because no one was sure if it was really Brit or a hoax. But producer Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins has come out to address the matter. "Just listened and yes its the demo, not a mixed version. I will not leak a mixed version. I am respecting Britney and Jive wishes. I love all of u and I love working with Britney. God bless!" Darkchild said.

The story goes like this; Lady Gaga wrote Telephone for Britney who tried the song and wasn't happy with the result and passed it back to Gaga who later recorded it with Beyonce and the song went on to become an international hit. Oops!

Listen to Britney's version of Telephone here.

JB UP 4 AWARD!

OK, the last time we checked, the Black Entertainment Television Awards was held annually to celebrate African Americans and other minorities in the entertainment field.

It doesn't matter if you're black or white
It doesn't matter if you're black or white

So, how did Justin Bieber get a nomination here when he is clearly not African American? And no, this is not a joke people. He is nominated for Best New Artist. Other artistes nominated for the 2010 BET Awards are Rihanna, Beyonce, Jay-Z, Alicia Keys and Drake.

But back to the question of why he is among those nominated, this is what Stephen Hill, BET’s President of Music Programming and Specials said:

“Justin has crossed the colour boundaries the same way hip-hop has crossed the boundaries the other way for a number of years. He’s had rhythm in his music. He makes the type of music our audience (African-Americans) likes.” Hmmm...

Oh and while we’re on the subject of Justin, Beliebers should tune in for the American Idol results show this week (tonight on Star World and tomorrow on 8TV) as the baby-faced star performs two songs, You Smile and Baby and shows off his drumming skills.

KITES GOES UP,UP..N AWAY!!!!

When I watched Bollywood production Kites recently, I didn’t really know if I was watching a Hindi film, a Spanish film or an English film. This is because it was rolled all in one.

Flying high
Flying high

The film stars Bollywood hunk Hrithik Roshan who plays Jay, an opportunistic dance instructor in Las Vegas who falls in love with Natasha, played by Mexican actress Barbara Mori, only she is engaged to be married to a rich gangster. Their forbidden love threatened, the couple go on the run in this romance/action/adventure movie, chased by the gangster and cops.

The stunts made me feel like it is an English flick, while Hrithik and his song-and-dance routines were definitely Indian. When Barbara ranted off in Spanish, it was like a Mexican telenovela.

While the film had some interesting moments here and there, it didn’t do it for me ‘cos it was trying to please everybody and ended up pleasing only a small group. The response in India is not good so far as the film had very little Hindi dialogue. And for English film audience, it doesn’t meet the standard. The international version has been cut to 90 mins from the original 130 mins film.

But Kites does have a very commercial appeal. Two very goodlooking stars, a little bit of humour, some pretty good action scenes (incl the two leads locking lips) and a number of song-and dance sequences ought to keep most Malaysian Bollywood fans happy. Especially since we haven’t seen Hrithik in two years. And when he gets footloose, it’s murder on the dance floor! And I love the soundtrack.

Check out this international trailer edited by Hollywood director Brett Ratner.

Celebrity Weddings: Lisa S. and Daniel Wu’s Wedding in South Africa thumbnail

Daniel Wu Yiu Cho and model, Lisa S. got married in South Africa on April 6, 2010. Daniel posted photos of the wedding ceremony on his blog on April 18th. The couple held a simple wedding ceremony in the woods in South Africa.

Daniel and Lisa shared a love for natural surroundings and even purchased a house in South Africa. When the couple needed to relax in the past, they would go to South Africa. Thus, the pair decided to hold their wedding ceremony in the woods located near their house, a place where the couple shared many lovely memories.

Under the witness and blessings of their closest friends, family, and the local village tribe, Daniel and Lisa exchanged marriage vows. The guests sat on hay bales, while Daniel and Lisa sat on a Sesotho blanket. Women from the village sang songs to bless the newlyweds.

Daniel and Lisa’s adopted daughter, Poulee, was also present at the ceremony. Poulee was the baby Daniel held in his arms in the ending of The Heavenly Kings < 四大天王>. He adopted her after filming the movie. Daniel and Lisa ate with Poulee’s family before heading back to the party with their own family.

Prior to getting married, Daniel and Lisa dated for eight years. The handsome Daniel often came across as a quiet man to reporters. But Lisa spoke of her husband, “Daniel shows a romantic gesture on a daily basis. He makes me laugh everyday. Even when he turns seventy years-old, when he is no longer handsome, he will retain his humor. He will be a funny, old man. He is like a lamb. He is very gentle and will even cook for me.”

The media speculated that since the couple announced their recent marriage so quickly, Lisa may be carrying a baby. At the beginning of 2009, Lisa had said to the media, “Daniel and I regard each other like an old, married couple. Thus, we do not have immediate wedding plans. Perhaps we will wait until after I get pregnant.” Afterwards, both Daniel and Lisa expressed on several occasions that when they decide to have a child together, then they will get married.

Since Daniel will be filming for the next several months, the formal wedding banquet in Hong Kong will be held in July or August.

GAGA IN D ARENA!!!

Hollywoodnews.com: British fans imitating Lady Gaga’s fashion were turned away from her Monster Ball concert at Manchester’s MEN arena.

Fans weren’t doing anything suspicious, i.e. they didn’t look like terrorists, rather they were just wearing cans in their hair, Gaga style. The pop singer started the hair trend in her “Telephone” music video.

Well, Gaga flew off the handle on Twitter, typing: “Outraged. Staff at the MEN aren’t letting people into the arena with cans in their hair. So many sad Little Monsters :(

Per Digital Spy, GaGa recently added an extra London date to her tour due to overwhelming demand.

She was interviewed by Larry King on CNN remotely from the U.K. yesterday. During the interview, she revealed that she was scheduled to open for Michael Jackson. She also previewed a clip from her new “Alejandro” video.

adam lambert

HollywoodNews.com: Adam Lambert may be gay, but you have to admit, he’s not hard on the eyes. While the singer is gearing up for his headlining tour this summer, he’s taken some time to answer a few questions from Frontiersweb.

In terms of his upcoming tour he shares, ” I wrote a song with Sam Sparro for my album, and the song is called “Voodoo.” It wasn’t on the standard release—it was a bonus track—but I released it with my remixes that came out a couple months ago, and I got such a great response. I fell in love with the song again.
Thematically, it’s about putting a love spell on someone. It’s very kitschy and has a lot of imagery that has to do with New Orleans and voodoo and the swamp and it’s kinda fun. And so I decided that I would open my tour with that song, but I also wanted to make the entire tour exist in that world, almost like a turn-of-the-century New Orleans, witchy, mystical, voodoo-type imagery.”

Of course an interview wouldn’t be complete without Lambert saying something controversial. This time when asked whether he would do Ryan Seacrest or Simon Cowell he stated, “Ew. Neither one of them is my type at all. They’re both too old for me. I like pretty boys in their early-to-mid twenties. Make sure you print that.”

kats is ranbir's barbie doll!!!

barbiedoll

It was quite a sight to see Katrina’s ‘Raajneeti’ co-stars Ranbir Kapoor and Arjun Rampal joke around with her at the Ramee Royal in Dubai. They pretended like she was one of those toys you have to insert a coin in, and Kat took all the nonsense very sportingly.

In a recent interview with the gorgeous beauty, she speaks about her co-stars Ranbir and Arjun

“They were real gentlemen. They never let me talk! (At this point, both Arjun and Ranbir start teasing her. Ranbir says, ‘Say something funny, Katrina’) you get an idea of what it’s like. It’s like you insert a five rupee coin to get a doll to dance. (This is when Arjun says, ‘But you do that very well’, and both he and Ranbir pretend to wind her up, like she is a doll!) If they were bored, it would be like ‘Katrina, get down and do push-ups. Katrina, do that Barbie wave like you did on the catwalk. Seriously though, they spoilt me. They were very nice. And I mean that genuinely. It sounds like the fakest thing to say but it was fascinating for me to see these actors at work.”

Hahaha!! Looks like they had thorough fun while shooting for the film Rajneeti

June cover

Barbara Mori is flying high with all the recognition she got with Kites and now look at her on the cover of GQ.

Wow!. Her look is simply killing. Just wish her hair was a little de-volumized.

Shah Rukh Khan's film sets a record of sorts for number of cameras used for shooting a single frame

Shah Rukh Khan is pulling out all the stops when it comes to his home production Ra.One. The actor has set a record of sorts, using as many as 23 cameras to light up a single frame.

The film is being shot at Mumbai studio, Filmistan. They are currently shooting on a set of a local train that has been created in a suburban studio. The cameras have been mounted in the front of the train and also at the doors.

A source says, "The team was wondering how they would manage to shoot on an actual train, when SRK suggested they build a dummy train and shoot on it. The art directors got busy and built a train that looked exactly like the real model." The train sequence is supposed to be an important part of the movie with major chase and action scenes.

The cast and crew of this superhero flick are working round the clock to complete their schedule before rains hit the city.

King Khan also plans to modify his character G.One's suit, as his kids didn't like it. The actor has been taking lot of inputs from his kids - Aryan and Suhana as he feels that their age group is the core target audience for his next home production.
